First radio on the bench in 2024 was a DNT M40, bought very cheaply from eBay and listed as for ‘spares or repairs’. Only thing wrong with it was a faulty Hi/Lo Power switch which had been disconnected and high power hard wired (which was easy enough to repair with a spare switch). This was the original version of this radio – not the ‘Super Tuned’ (slightly later) version. Despite that, the set tuned up nicely with no broken or stuck cores. Luckily, I didn’t have to touch the VCOs either (there are two in these sets). Mic was in good condition, for once. Good on air reports too.
